Point
This case study introduces R2 ball end mill brass machining on a CNC automatic lathe (CITIZEN: Cincom L20Ⅶ LFV) in collaboration with Tactex Corporation, a company that develops, sells, and operates CAD/CAM systems.
After rough cutting with a standard rotary tool (GSC1310), finish cutting was performed with a Nakanishi high-speed spindle (BMF-3160-CTZ). 60,000 min-¹ maximum speed was achieved by electrification of Cincom’s standard rotary tool and speeder.
[Points]
✔ High speed rotation: Optimum peripheral speed for small-diameter tools to increase feed rate = shorter machining time.
✔ External control: Rotation ON/OFF is indicated by M code.Error detection is possible.
✔ Compact: Standard rotary tool GSC1310*.
Can be installed as a replacement for the standard rotary tool GSC1310*.
*✔ Target: Cincom A20/L20/M32, etc.
